Dr. Caroline Shinner

Associate, Clinical Psychologist in Neuropsychology

Dr. Caroline Shinner is a Clinical Psychologist with over ten years’ experience of working in an inpatient neuro-rehabilitation unit, in addition to working within a psychological therapies service for adults with severe and complex mental health difficulties.

Caroline is able to provide neuropsychological assessment, goal-focussed rehabilitation and psychological therapy for people with acquired brain injury and other neurological conditions. She also has experience in the assessment of mental capacity.

Caroline strives to offer a person-centred, goal-focussed approach to assessment and intervention, highlighting the importance of the individual’s strengths and values, in addition to acknowledging the importance of wider systemic factors and relationship dynamics. Caroline is keen to support people in their adjustment to their neurological condition, with the aim of improving their emotional wellbeing and quality of life.

Caroline offers a range of therapeutic interventions, including Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).

In addition to obtaining a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2011, Caroline has also completed an MSc in Applied Neuropsychology with Distinction.
