Dr. Matt Harland

Clinical Psychologist in Neuropsychology

Bristol

Matt completed his BSc in Psychology in 2010, followed by an MSc in applied Neuropsychology in 2015. He has since gained experience working with a wide variety of neuropsychological presentations across multiple settings.

Matt completed his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2022 and he is currently completing the entry requirements for the Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists.

During the doctorate, Matt’s specialist training placement was across inpatient and community neuropsychology services. Following training, he has worked in a specialist inpatient neurorehabilitation hospital, an NHS community neurorehabilitation service for moderate to severe TBI, and an NHS outpatient assessment service. This variety has enabled him to develop competence in neuropsychological assessment, formulation, and therapeutic interventions. Matt’s therapeutic work often incorporates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.

A key strength of Matt’s approach is his ability to adapt his communication and application of evidence-based therapy, to enable him to efficiently work alongside his clients and enable them to live a life in-line with their values. He also works with family members and loved ones to enable them to be able to understand and support individuals with neurological difficulties. Matt enjoys time in the outdoors and his therapeutic work recognises the value of connection with the natural world in promoting wellbeing.
