Dr. Rupert Burge

Rupert is a Clinical Psychologist in Neuropsychology. He has experience of working within Community Traumatic Brain Injury, providing therapy and rehabilitation alongside specialist MDTs as well as extensive child safeguarding experience in CAMHS complex behaviour. Rupert is a senior lecturer and research tutor for a clinical psychology training course.

Rupert obtained his doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Nottingham in 2021 and he is currently undertaking the MSc in Clinical Neuropsychology. His research during this time explored a novel cognitive rehabilitation intervention in Multiple Sclerosis, examined the association between cognitive measures and real word changes, and the efficacy of trauma informed care in the third sector. 

Rupert has worked in a range of NHS settings working therapeutically with behaviour that challenges, anger management, psychosis, inpatient services, child complex behaviour and safeguarding, and community Traumatic Brain Injury rehabilitation.

Rupert recognises that a varied, flexible approach is needed to adjust and adapt to a client’s needs. Rupert has experience in delivering interventions drawing from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Compassion Focused Therapy.

Rupert has advocated for the continued research and development within the profession and splits his time between clinical work and research and teaching. Rupert holds a research and tutor position at the University of Lincoln, supervising trainee Clinical Psychologist’s thesis projects and developing cognitive rehabilitation interventions in Multiple Sclerosis and Mild Cognitive Impairment. Rupert also supervises MSc research projects from the University of Bristol.
