Dr. Sara Schamborg

EMDR Therapist and Advanced Schema Therapist

Bristol

Since qualifying as a Psychologist in 2014, Dr Sara Schamborg has worked in a variety of services and sectors, including the NHS, criminal justice system, the charity sector, and private practice. Sara has experience of working with adults with a wide range of difficulties, such as difficulties relating to low mood, anger, anxiety, self-critical thoughts, low self-esteem, and relationship issues. She has extensive experience of working with individuals who have experienced trauma, including acute or single event trauma, chronic and complex trauma, as well as secondary or vicarious trauma.

She supports people to explore and understand their difficulties, whilst also supporting them to achieve their own goals. Sara recognises the importance of proving a safe and non-judgemental space to those whom she works with, as well as working collaboratively to facilitate meaningful change.

Sara works in an integrated way, drawing on a variety of evidence-based approaches to meet the needs of the person she is working with, as she does not believe that there is one therapy approach that works for everyone. Sara mainly draws on Schema Therapy (ST), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), whilst also integrating skills from other relevant approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and Mentalization Based Therapy (MBT).
