With over 25 years of clinical experience, Hayley is an Occupational Therapist specialising in complex adult brain injury, Stroke, neurosurgery, physical rehabilitation, acute medical, surgical and mental health conditions. Hayley has worked within OT roles in the NHS acute inpatient and community ESD Stroke services, the charity sector, and most recently the independent sector.
Prior to becoming an OT associate with Totus, Hayley worked for Headway, the brain injury charity for Norfolk & Waveney, as both a community Occupational Therapist and the ABI Connections Project Lead, in which she managed a small team, developed new service provision, supported 300 clients and developed the delivery and content of the popular Head-pods podcast series. The podcast supported the lived-experience communicator to deliver high-quality educational content to a wide audience upon ABI and inspirational client rehabilitation journeys.
Alongside her OT role, Hayley volunteers on the management panel of the Norfolk & Waveney Acquired Brain Injury Network (NWABIN), supporting with the organisation of the NWABIN annual stroke conference, contributing to online network meetings, and gaining valuable insights on updates on brain injury services and available provision across the region from multiple highly skilled professionals.
Hayley describes herself as a dedicated, hardworking and creative OT with a strong interest in health coaching approaches. Her practice focuses on meaningful, client-centred interventions, using flexible and innovative strategies to help clients and their families achieve their goals at a pace that aligns with their own recovery journey. Hayley has a particular passion for vocational rehabilitation, cognitive rehabilitation, and group work, previously establishing and running weekly community-based peer-support groups for individuals affected by brain injury, and an additional monthly community carers support network group within her Headway role.
Alongside her clinical work, Hayley owns, runs and delivers Tappy Toes Norwich early years movement & dance classes, and continues to grow and develop inclusive SEND-friendly classes, building a supportive community, ensuring all children and their families feel welcome, supported and enabled in a joyful environment.
