Helen Marshall

Associate, Specialist Occupational Therapist

Since qualifying with BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy at Brunel University in London in 2000, Helen has worked within the NHS for over twenty years.

In 2009 Helen moved into the Neuro specialism, working in a variety of settings including: acute inpatients, private inpatient rehabilitation and community rehabilitation, developing a wide range of skills and experience around the impact of acquired brain injury and other neurological conditions on cognition, physical function and vision.

Helen has a keen interest and expertise in the area of acquired brain injury including the assessment of cognition through function. She acknowledges the importance of education in helping to build insight, empower patients, and help patients find strategies to overcome their difficulties. Helen has a strong belief in Occupational Therapy as being a key role within the Multi-disciplinary Team to promote and enhance people’s independence and quality of life, through collaboration and joint working with other professionals to help patients achieve their goals.

Helen currently works as Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist within the Neurosciences team at North Bristol NHS Trust and is a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists and the Specialist Section for Neurology, maintaining and continuing to develop her skills through reflection, self-directed learning and attendance to training.
