After qualifying in Occupational Therapy from Oxford Brookes University in 1999, Jo has continued to develop her interest and passion within the field of neurological rehabilitation. Now, as a highly experienced independent Occupational Therapist she has continued to develop her skills working with adults with acquired brain injury.
Jo has a special interest in cognitive and executive functioning and how these systems are disrupted as a result of a brain injury. She uses her experience to navigate client’s challenges both at home, in the workplace and in social settings, finding strategies to assist them to organise their lives; planning, staying on task, and adapting to change and what happens when those systems break down.
As a practitioner, Jo enjoys working closely with clients and their families to understand their needs and setting goals that reflect what they want to get out of life. This often starts with focusing on their understanding of what has happened and working alongside them to find a sense of purpose again.
Jo is a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT), The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), British Association of Brain Injury and Complex Case Management (BABICM) and enjoys keeping up to date through attendance at specialist conferences, webinars and as a member of the South West Independent OT Forum.
